Description
Our Monday 5 week beginners archery course is designed for beginners, but we can also cater for archers returning to the sport after some time out. The price includes all equipment, insurance, coaching, and at least 5 hours of tuition.
The groups are kept fairly small so everyone gets plenty of individual attention as well as group tuition.
Please note these courses are designed for adults, generally our minimum age is 14 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 will require a parent of guardian to also book on to the course and shoot alongside them. For younger children please take a look at our Children & Family Archery Club.
Our Monday 5 week beginners archery course is run at our indoor venue in Archway North London: Caxton House Community Centre, 129 St.John’s Way, Archway, N19 3RQ. Please double check which start time you have booked for as we have sessions at 6:15pm and 7:45pm.
The Courses Cover:
The two main styles of recurve archery; Barebow and Olympic-style sighted. During the course you will also learn about safety, archery etiquette, basic equipment knowledge, scoring, and shooting at the full indoor distance of 20 yards.
On completion of this course we hope that you will continue to shoot with us on Monday and Friday evenings, or Sunday afternoons. Although having done this course, you will also be eligible to join any Archery GB club in the UK.

I had no archery experience prior to taking the 5 week Archery Course at Experience Archery apart from shooting an arrow into the ground when I was in primary school during a trip to the isle of wight. I was taught by Austin who gave me excellent advice and tips on how to improve my shooting. The course started with the group learning how to wear safety equipment such as the arm guard and the use of finger tabs. We also learned archery etiquette i.e the safety of standing behind the shooting line when not shooting, not to dry fire the bow, how to safely collect arrows when notified to and when to shoot when notified to as well. We were taught how to stand first at the shooting line and informed of the stance that we would assume. Secondly we were taught to shoot bare bow(how to shoot without a sight), this including how to load the arrow, draw the bow string using the three fingers under method, set the anchor point and shoot the arrow at the target. As the instructor Austin was both very informative and patient during our learning process as a group and as separate individuals. As the weeks progressed the target stands were moved backwards to challenge us to use natural instinct and challenged our vision to shoot. We learnt how to string the bow and safely de-string the bow. I learned how to shoot the Olympic Sighted method, how to add the sight to the bow and draw using the split finger draw method. I found using the sight really hard at first but Austin helped me to understand this side of archery in a more relaxed and in depth way.
The only sadness I had was the fact that all the members that I was in a group with were very friendly and became friends instantly. We finished off week five with a little competition which was really fun, Austin even stuck balloons on the target faces to make it harder for us to shoot. Towards the end of the course we all received certificates of achievement which I was very proud of and will serve as a memoir to one of my favourite hobbies. I would thoroughly recommend the 5 week archery course at Experience Archery to anyone who is eager and determined to learn. It has been my pleasure to learn at the finest archery establishment In London and I hope to keep shooting at the Experience Archery club.

I had very little archery experience when I signed up for this course and felt a little nervous when I turned up for the first session but I soon realised I had no need to be at all.
The instructors were extremely friendly and the club is very relaxed.
The course covers all aspects of safety and range etiquette starting with bare bows in the first week but then concentrating on Olympic archery for the following sessions.
There was lots of good advice on technique and equipment all given in a very relaxed way no matter how good or bad you felt you were doing. I really came away feeling like I’d learnt a lot and definitely intend to carry on shooting at the club.
I would certainly recommend this course to anyone starting out in archery.

Thoroughly enjoyed the beginners course. Kevin, our instructor, was very patient and slowly built up our knowledge and technique over the weeks, so that we had a good grounding in how to shoot the recurve bow.
Nice group that I learnt with and everyone at the club seems friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend the course.
Thanks to Kevin for the lessons!
